Cease and Desist: The Story of Small Family Farms in the Age of Big Ag and Big Brother
This documentary tells the story of four family farms in Northern California facing FDA crackdowns on their herd-share dairy operations. The film chronicles the hardship experienced by these families and their shareholders as they struggle to keep small family farming alive in a time of increasing corporate and government control over food production. At stake for these farmers and their shareholders is their right to produce and consume raw milk products within the old private arrangement called the “herd share.” At stake for all of us is the right to choose what we consume and from whom we obtain it.
ABOUT THE FARMERS:
Featured in the documentary are Mike and Jane Hulme of Evergreen Acre Farms, formerly in San Jose and now in San Benito County; Sara Grusky and Mike Foley of Green Uprising Farm in Mendocino County; Pattie Chelseth of My Sisters’ Farm in El Dorado County; and Mali McGee of MilkMama Goat Farm in Alameda County.
