Director/Producer:
Yahia Mahamdi is a filmmaker working in both documentary and fiction genres. He teaches film in the Digital Filmmaking Program at Santa Clara University. Among his earlier documentary films is Thank You for Your Patience, about the California Workers’ Compensation system, has been distributed nationally through local cable stations and labor organizations working for Workers’ Compensation reform. His recent short, The Last Farm in the City, has played on YouTube and was the impetus for Cease and Desist. His latest documentary on diversity in higher education titled In-Tolerance, is in post-production.
His fiction films include the short, City of Dreams, which won the award for Best Short Film at the University of Washington Short Film Festival. The Rainy Season were official selections at The Harlem International Film Festival and the Ohio Independent Film Festival.

Cynthia Stella: Cynthia is a writer who also teaches literature and writing at Santa Clara University and a long-term collaborator on Yahia’s films as co-producer and production designer. In addition to her work in film, Cynthia is pursuing publication of her historical novel, The Renegado. The team is currently at work on a futuristic feature-length fiction film.
